February 4, 2012 ** The New Unconscious with Ken Eisold

9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Discussant: Bill Fortier
Moderator: Elizabeth Bernstein

Macht Auditorium

This program reflects a continuing effort to integrate scientific research with psychoanalysis. The coherent theory of a dynamic unconscious , developed by Freud through his explorations of neurotic symptom, dreams and infantile sexuality, has been greatly expanded over the course of the last twenty-five years by research from neurobiology, neuro-psychology and cognitive science. This considerable research strongly validates the presence of the unconscious while expanding our appreciation of its vast influence on multiple aspects of human behavior. The program will (1) describe domains of unconscious activity that construct personal, interpersonal, social and political reality and (2) identify specific applications of relevant research to analytic practice as well as organizational life.

Dr. Eisold is a practicing psychoanalyst and organizational consultant in New York, NY. He has published extensively, most recently on the psychodynamics of psychoanalytic institutions.
